The Unified Patent Court (UPC) will open its doors on 1st June 2023
The Unified Patent Court (UPC) has confirmed today (17/02/2023) that it will open its doors on 1st June 2023, following confirmation that Germany has ratified the UPC agreement.
The UPC enables applicants to choose a single, ‘unitary’ European patent, rather than the existing bundles of patents for separate EU countries, which will be enforced and litigated centrally within the UPC. Simplifying and reducing the cost of EU patent applications and litigation.
While the UK is not a signatory for the agreement, and our European Patent Attorneys at PatProtect expect to have rights of representation before the new court, providing you with a full range of legal representation and options for the protection of your patents across the UK, EU and Internationally.
